Hollywood actress Dame Elizabeth Taylor presented Prince Charles with a bust of her late ex-husband Richard Burton at the Buckingham Palace, in a ceremony honouring the great legend.
Prince Charles declared that a new theatre will be named after Burton in his native land Wales, and his bronze bust will be placed in the Cardiff theatre’s foyer, reports The Daily Express.
The 78-year-old actress, who married Burton twice, spoke about his former husband at the occasion.
The event marked the 60th anniversary of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where the new auditorium will be established.
“Richard would have been so deeply touched by this great honour, as am I,” Elizabeth said.
“It is wonderful to be here and join in this celebration, along with many others who remember and respect Richard with so much love in their hearts,” she added.
The Richard Burton Theatre will open in spring next year. It is part of a 22.5million pound development project.

Ο Πρίγκιπας Κάρολος δήλωσε ότι ένα νέο θέατρο θα πάρει το όνομά του από τον Burton στην πατρίδα του την Ουαλία, και η ορειχάλκινη προτομή του θα τοποθετηθεί φουαγιέ του θεάτρου στο Κάρντιφ,αναφέρει η εφημερίδα "Daily Express".
Η 78χρονη ηθοποιός, η οποία παντρεύτηκε δύο φορές τον Burton, μίλησε για τον πρώην σύζυγό της.
Η εκδήλωση σηματοδότησε την 60η επέτειο του βασιλικού Κολεγίου Ουαλίας Μουσικής και Δράματος, εκεί όπου η νέα αίθουσα θα δημιουργηθεί.
"Ο Richard θα ήταν τόσο βαθιά συγκινημένος από αυτή τη μεγάλη τιμή, όπως και εγώ,"η Elizabeth είπε.
"Είναι υπέροχο να βρίσκομαι εδώ και να συμμετέχω σε αυτή τη γιορτή, μαζί με πολλούς άλλους που θυμούνται και σέβονται τον Richard με τόση αγάπη βαθιά μέσα στην καρδιά τους", πρόσθεσε.
Το Θεάτρο Richard Burton θα ανοίξει την άνοιξη του επόμενου έτους. Είναι μέρος ενός αναπτυξιακού έργου 22.5 εκατομμυρίων λίβρων.
